Program: Organization of the workshop “Training seminar for technicians of urban green areas of partner cities on a model for quality development of green areas” . 16th to 20th September 2007.

September 17th 2007
In the morning Mario Rotella, agricultural expert and former manager of the Green Area Service of the Municipality of La Spezia, held a lecture entitled “A virtual green area project – some examples of landscape and architectonic set-ups” and presented several new urban green areas explaining the technical choices in terms of trees and materials used for the paths and furniture.
In the afternoon, Doc. Giovanni Grapeggia, expert of environmental aspects, presented “Designing green areas on an environmental basis  - a new quality of the urban territory”, analysing the techniques for the design of urban green areas based on environmental and natural principles, which can contribute to the improvement of the overall quality of the environment (reduction of polluting emissions and particles, carbon absorption, noise reduction, climate mitigation, etc.), while maintaining the general value and aesthetic quality of the set-ups.

September 18th  2007
The day was devoted to two interesting visits to our area. In the morning participants visited the plant nursery VIVAI SERVICE PLANT – Voltana di Lugo (Ra) Doc. Giovanni Grapeggia explained the main plant species and the climatic characteristics of trees suitable for urban green areas, illustrating also how they should be planted and taken care of.
The two groups of participants had lunch together at Tenuta Augusta Mandriole (RA), after lunch they visited the farm Tenuta Augusta, surrounded by the unique scenario of the Po Delta – wetlands, pinewoods, woodland, rare water birds. The farm is equipped with observation towers, paths and an environmental workshop. Afterwards, the participants were taken to Ravenna to visit the Park of via Vicoli. The visit was guided by Doc. Ilaria Venturi  of the Environmental Service and Green areas of the Municipality of Ravenna. She presented a new playground for children of different age brackets.
September 19th 2007
The entire day was devoted to the analysis of proposals or pilot projects presented by the partner cities of the Project INFIORE, for the requalification of their green areas.
The chairperson of the session, Mario Rotella, after the analysis of the technical reports of the participants, proposed some technical adjustments to improve the projects.
In the late afternoon, the participants visited the Salina of Cervia, where they could observe the typical flora and fauna of this natural reserve and learn more about its management.
Dinner at the Restaurant AL CAMINETTO: the use of flowers in cooking, educational dinner organised by the LAG CAMPUS, participants will receive and attendance certificate.
