URBAN GREEN AREAS AND FEASIBILITY STUDIES

At the same time as the kick-off meeting (February 2007), Cervia hosted the Congress “Quality green areas as strategic resource”.
The aim of this first project meeting was to make the partners familiar with the importance of sustainable quality green areas in the cities and their potential impact on tourism. The Congress provided suggestions and guidelines on the importance of the development of green areas in the cities for their growth and development, as well as a model of sustainable urban growth.
After the congress, all the partners started working at their pilot projects on urban green areas.


Organization of the workshop “Training seminar for technicians of urban green areas of partner cities on a model for quality development of green areas” . 16th to 20th September 2007.

The seminar aimed at providing information and ideas to improve the professional knowledge of green area planning. It has been an important opportunity for the exchange of opinions and know-how between the representatives of areas with different climatic and organizational characteristics.
Lectures and practical lessons, the simulation of a virtual project, guided visits to urban parks and plant nurseries – all the activities of the seminar aimed at representing a series of ideal models of natural and architectonic green areas, which can be set up at different levels in the participating cities.


Workshop “Training seminar for the set up of flower beds in hotels and tourist structures -  how to use flowers to promote the environment and foster tourism” Period 16th to 20th September 2007.

The programme focussed on the importance of green areas as marketing tool in tourist structures and the use of flowers in restaurants.
The workshop let the experts of the Project INFIORE learn more about the following priorities:
- the role of floral decorations as a marketing instrument for tourist destinations and tourist structures;
- the importance of the use of flowers in the restaurant sector.
Moreover, the seminar was an opportunity to visit beautiful areas of great environmental value, such as the Po Delta, which promote the environment as part of the tourist offer and manage green areas accordingly.
