One of the most singular movements in architecture and landscape painting in early 20th century Prague was cubism.
Geometrical outlines, acute angles and contrasting colours are among the main attributes that characterised the floral compositions of the period, reproduced here by the gardeners of the Czech capital with geraniums, surfinias and sunpatiens to create the white lines, salvia farinacea, heliotropium to contrast with the colour blue and lantana for the final touch of yellow and orange.
