This Serbian city, a stone’s throw from Belgrade, stands on a tributary of the Danube, and the two watchtowers reproduced here in majolica mark the intersection.
The small bridge in iron, which crosses the river, symbolises the union of peoples by means of water, while at the same time being a faithful reproduction of the real one in the town.
The Cyrillic inscription of the name of Pancevo is in yellow marigolds while the hanging mulberry recalls the production of silk for which the city was famous at the beginning of the last century: the silkworms were fed on the leaves of this plant.
